Creating Art Together: Calvin’s In-Home Newborn Session

Some families feel like home, and the Cutting family is one of them for me. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of documenting their most significant milestones: their engagement, wedding, maternity sessions, and now the arrival of their second beautiful baby, Calvin. Watching their story unfold through my lens is an honor I don’t take lightly, and I feel immense gratitude for their trust in allowing me to create meaningful art that reflects their unique connection.

In-home newborn sessions are sacred to me. Mothers invite me in, only still healing and recovering themselves, usually still in diapers to let me create with them some of the most precious photos of the love of their newest little one. Baby Calvin was a dream. At just a few weeks old, he was peaceful, snuggled in the arms of his parents, resting quietly or looking for milk. These moments, raw and unfiltered, hold the magic of what it means to welcome a new life into the world. Big sister Charlee brought her sweet energy to the session, loving on her baby brother with tenderness and a little bit of that toddler grit that could quickly turn from a loving kiss to a little poke in the eye ( you seasoned moms know the type).

What makes in-home sessions so special is the authenticity they bring. It’s not about perfectly posed photos or curated backdrops—it’s about documenting the real, the raw, and the everyday moments that become cherished memories so quickly. The Cutting family embodies this trust and surrender to the process of creating art. Whether it’s Charlee’s playful glances, the way Calvin fits so perfectly in his parents’ arms, or their collective joy as a family of four, these images are a time capsule of love, connection, and life in its most genuine form.

I’m beyond honored to continue photographing this family as they grow. These images remind me why I do what I do—to tell stories, to preserve fleeting moments, and to celebrate the beauty of the most important connection.

Thank you, Cutting family, for trusting me once again. I love your sweet family, and I can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next.
